Here is line 78 of config.php
$theme[0]['PATH'] = SM_PATH . 'themes/default_theme.php';
When I got to work this morning I had a browser that was open and was already logged into SquirrelMail. From there I was able to see and delete my emails. So it appears that the problem is only related to the login screen.
