find support/bug reporting options at microsoft.com

smime signed email used windows-1252 character set for plain text quoted
printable message part that was marked as iso-8859-1. If your outbox
stores correctly encoded email, then it might be modified by smtp server
or sourceforge mailmain software.

unsafe_image_rules configuration uses default_prefs value. Unsafe Image
Rules configuration block can be removed with forced prefs plugin.

SquirrelMail remote image policy is secure by default. There is no user
option that can turn off this behavior. Plugin provides options that can
set interface to unsafe state by default. Due to unsafe setting nature and
existing unsafe_image_rules plugin options, SquirrelMail developers don't
have any plans to allow unsafe image controls with just one button. Even
when this button is big and red one. Remote images are dangerous in
standard webmail environment.

Use plugin or modify squirrelmail scripts.
