Hi everyone, I have hmailserver/SM 1.4.5 installed on a windows 2000 AS box with dual Pentium 4 Xeon 3gig processors, 6 Gigs of ram, and an 80 gig 10K raid volume. Everything works without errors but I am finding that the system is running very slow with log in times taking as long as a minute even with users having a few emails and 1 or two added folders. The largest user has 250 emails, 4 additional folders, and his log-in/inbox crawls. I am trying to get a handle on what I can do to speed up the system short of throwing hundreds of servers as load balanced Imap/smtp servers.
I am hoping that some current users can shed light on how they manage to support thousands even hundreds of thousands of users. Whether they have separate Imap/smtp servers and what they are using. I believe SM is a superb project and having this knowledge will help many individuals finding themselves in my position.
