If you feel my posting were not acceptable (or an offense against the SM team), take your power as admin and block my email in all mailing lists. Blaming me for spamming is somewhat rude. >> - Tiered of waiting for bug fixes for SM or plugins? > > Bugs are fixed in SM, we have a bug tracker. I'd had discussion on mailing list about bugs in plugins for over a year - nothing happened. Then I tried to post them (including a solution proposal) on bug tracker and... nothing happend. Okok, you may argue 3 month on bug tracker is not a long time, but for me as an user who has to work with buggy code for over a year it IS quite a long time... > [..] > > Coding guidelines are there to make life easier for everybody. > They're not that difficult to follow along with, so I'm not sure I'd > agree with this being a "good thing". > I strongly agree, but at the end of the day, I need a working SM (plugin). If developer and maintainer have no time left to apply bug fixes (or enhance functionality)... If you take a closer look at the official provided plugins, you'll see, they does not follow the coding guidelines as well. Plugins writing code which does not follow HTML coding restrictions, not supporting international language support and breaking up SM's concept of themes is not an exception - I found bugs in nearly every plugin provied and following the "official coding guidelines" by SM team. Start there and clean up the plugins officially provided, before fingerpointing at me. If the plugin code would work, there is no need for sites like Squirrelmail Patch Forum. At the end the status on squirrelmail.org is: we have an very good and stable SM and a couple of plugins not working out of the box or having problems in interaction with each other. >> SquirrelMail patch forum is located at http://www.qv90.de?sqm > > [..] > > As for your comment about people cutting down on mailing list traffic. > I doubt it very very much. If you think, it is comfortable for users to digg through tons of postings on mailinglists to find a bug fix, this is your opinion. For me it's boring. If my approach does not fit into your SM concept, either provide an acceptable solution or take the opportunity to use my offering, I can't understand why my initiative and engagement for SM is not seen as a chance to bring SM to a higher level of quality. PLEASE NOTE: My approach is no offense against any of the SM team and no critism to your superb work for SM!
