I have the same problem with auth, I downloaded sqwebmail from
http://www.inter7.com/sqwebmail.html and I can't seem to find any FAQ or
documentation there. The INSTALL.html in the archive doesn't say much
about authvchkpw except this:

-- NOTE: the default configuration settings have been changed to always
build the authdaemon module, and build all real authentication modules
inside authdaemond. This is true even with the authvchkpw module.
authdaemond is needed to support the new password authentication
framework. --

and that '/usr/local/share/sqwebmail/libexec/authlib/authdaemond start'
should be run at system startup when you want to use vpopmail.

This FAQ http://www.courier-mta.org/FAQ.html doesn't say much about
authvchkpw either.

You say that there ourght to be a FAQ that describes how to solve this
problem by disableing authdaemond and enable authvchkpw would be very
helpful. I agree! But please now when it doesn't exist please be a
little more specific on how to actually do this, like what opstions to
add to ./configure or where to change in the config files would be very
helpful indeed.

I have tried to look at the authdaemonrc but I'm not relly conftable
changing it without any documentation to follow.

Anyway I tried to change authdaemonrc to only have the authvchkpw module
by modifying this line authmodulelist="authvchkpw" and restart
authdaemond, but that didn't help so I changed it back. I feel like I'm
guessing here so any help would be appriciated.

thanks

For the love of....

This really ought to be a FAQ or listed in all big red bold letters on
the
SqWebMail site.

Assuming you're using vpopmail, disable authdaemond when compiling and
put
authvchkpw support directly in the executable.

No, but there's also no information proven, and no configuration given
to
make assumptions on.
