According to the INSTALL readme file, I know that I need either DB or GDBM.

I see that gdbm is listed among them. My question is, if I have gdbm installed, why can't the config script find it?

If this gdbm is not what I need, can someone point me to the DB or GBDM
package that I need to install?

TIA

Jason, Find out where your gdbm lib is installed, then make sure your sqwebmail installer looks there.
(I think I made some soft links before confidguration)
Usually it's an easy entry in you configuration setup, but here's what I got from a Google search

If you have libgdbm.so installed in /usr/local/lib and gdbm.h installed in /usr/local/include, it's possible that your compiler doesn't search those directories. Reconfigure your compiler to search those directories by default. Try setting CPPFLAGS and LDFLAGS when running configure:

CPPFLAGS="-I /usr/local/include" \
LDFLAGS="-L /usr/local/lib" ./configure [options]

It is also possible that libgdbm.so is not found at runtime because your dynamic linker doesn't search /usr/local/lib either. You will have to reconfigure your dynamic linker.

An alternative solution is to install soft links in /usr/lib and /usr/include to point to the GDBM library.
