These are vpopmail files for authentication. The .cdb file is
a compiled version of vpasswd. You can use vmkpasswd domainname
to compile the vpasswd file into the vpasswd.cdb
Older versions of vpopmail had file locking issues. So it was
possible to corrupt the vpasswd file when two programs were
accessing it. A new version of vpopmail-4.9.6 stable will
be released at the end of the week.
I suggest you upgrade if possible.
