Francis,
In Outlook you can choose to "Log on using Secure Password Authentication"
which will encrypt the password. I'm however experiencing some problems when
using this option as it appears that some messages are not showing up in
outlook, even if I can see them in sqwebmail. The alternative is to use SSL.

Subject: IMAP Client

Hi,

I need to confirm something. Is IMAP client like Outlook and Netscape
Messenger sending username/password pair as cleartext just like POP3 client?

I have Courier-IMAP-v1.3.3. The main purpose is to allow users to get
notification via aa small program call IMAP Notify from Vandyke Technologies
(http://www.vandyke.com/)

My main concern is whether the password is sent in cleartext, which is
insecure. Same applies to sqwebmail when receiving the login. Any idea?
