I, too, am working on this problem. It seems that the password change 
function in sqwebmail (set_sqwebpass) only checks against/updates the 
sqwebmail-pass file in the CWD and, if selected at compile time, a 
vchkpw password. Has anybody written a patch to allow this function to 
call an external program that can do a "black-box" password change?
