currently running sqwebmail w/ qmail-1.03

SASL_AUTHENTICATION_MODULES="PLAIN LOGIN"
authentication works fine for all except one user, correct uname and pword
are entered and INVALID USER ID OR PASSWORD message/page is displayed.
this user is (as far as i can tell) identical in structure compared to all
others
are there clues to look for to indentify the problem?
