I mean the feature that is f.e. in Outlook.
I can request that I'm going to be notified when the other party read
the message that I sent to him/her.
I think it's the following headers that are added:
Return-Receipt-To: "Name" <email@ddress> (delivery receipt request)
Disposition-Notification-To: "Name" <email@ddress> (read receipt
request)
Or vice versa...

There is an autoresponder capability that could be used to generate
delivery 
receipts.  Other than that, this is a job for your mail server.
