Under Linux, I have the choice between sync and async mode where sync
means that an "ok" is only given after the data is physically on the
disk. This of course means a big slowdown. I have to give this option
in /etc/exports.
Can you tell me where FreeBSD defaults to?

Client rpc stats:
calls retrans authrefrsh
19308228 362 0
Also /proc/net/snmp shows only very few errors.
