I have a similar problem with a Debian distribution ( qmail - vpopmail - sqwebmail ).
I solve it with a cron job that restart the authentication every 20 minutes.
in Debian:
with "crontab -e" edit the crontab file and add
20 * * * * /usr/local/share/sqwebmail/libexec/authlib/authdaemond restart
If someone have a solution please let me know!

authentication it should close..but in my system its not closing..
