I would like to see if there is any way to implement any method of searching both in a single folder, and in the entire box. If this was available I could do away with the need for outlook for searching.

Indeed, this is on the list of ideas that I had already collected from people. I don't know what would be involved in making it happen. (And unfortunately, I don't have the time to take a stab at it myself right now.) But presumably, the code from Courier-IMAP that does searching could be reused somehow or another.
Although, I don't recall if Courier-IMAP can search across mailboxes or not. The IMAP "SEARCH" command may be restricted to searching the selected mailbox. I'm not sure. (Sam?? Does it do multi-box searching? -- Or do the clients handle that for themselves by firing off searches from within each folder?) But anyway, I'm sure it could be done by doing repeated/parallel searches if that was needed.
Hmmm... But keep in mind that if this gets implemented, the administrator should probably be able to disable both searching in general, *and* recursive searching of folders... at their discretion, for performance reasons... at compile time, or better yet at run time.
