This is interesting, it should be probably tracked in a different issue then.
Regarding the app_perl crash, if you are using also openssl inside it, maybe
you can try to deactivate it. The app_perl module was probably not updated to
the thread mode topic, as its not that often used anymore (the KEMI style
modules basically replaced the dedicated app modules).
