I think that what you want is to be able to log graphically (via xdm)
into the unix server from the pc, so that you will get the same
environment you have when you log in directly from the server
console.

If this is right, you should take a look at the man page of xdm
(or whatever display management tool your server uses: for Linux
it could be kdm or gdm). You must be sure to allow graphical
logins from other machines (perhaps only machines on the local
network). Then you should try to connect with eXceed using
XDMCP (broadcast or direct connection). A similar setup
worked for me using kdm (Linux) and StarNet X-Win32.

I DID NOT use ssh, though. I think, but don't trust me on this :-),
that you should forward over the secure connection the XDMCP
conversation between the machines. Perhaps you could try starting
xdm from within a ssh telnet style session. I think you have to be
root to start xdm, though. But you could solve this with a suid root
executable, or sudo.
