Thanks for the info, but the problem still exists. New -v output is exactly 
the same, including the "rekey incompatability bug" warning. 
~/.ssh2/ssh2_config and /etc/ssh2/ssh2_config both have this entry:

        RekeyIntervalSeconds            0

in the "Crypto" section.
