Hi Steve,

I think those cylinders are on the road to recovery...with the wonderful
engineering that IP does ...it was one of the flaws that has caused many an
engine to be shoved into a corner with a lot of frustration.

I have not encountered that before?

That's why on the vertical engine the holes through the frame are
oval-shaped. The frames are 1/16" thick so I though that it would be okay.

At first blush the holes do seem to be drilled wrong (all inline) on the
block...but when you put a gasket like the ones that Mamod made on the FRAME
SIDE of things ...all is reveiled!

On the IP blocks or the Mamod?

Peter had a whole series of articles on taming the Mamod...I allways use the
Mamod old style reverser block and disc...yes even Mamod had a couple of
different designs under the reverser...if you can find the old ones they are
like gold! And they bolt right up to the IP cylinders...the IP reverser
block can be brought up to Mamod spec but it requires machining.

The reversing disk on the front block...IP has another flaw there...but you
are using a gear train and that alone will iron out their flaw...compair a
Mamod reverser to an IP one there is a major difference under there...I have
retrofitted a couple of Janes to the Mamod reverser and the difference it
made in the smooth slow running is a sight to behold.

There is another trick to slow running of Jane/Mamod style engines...but
lets get this little Dragon working first!

Can't wait to for you to get that gasket material out of the steam
passages...I will be able to see your smile on your face from here!

Tony
