Hi,
I haven't tried either one, but back in the early 90's I found that bending
in the ties often resulted in failure after a year or so out in the weather.
The foot of the rail did not go through the rollers and thus had greater
internal stresses and exerted a warpage type twist to the rails after a
period of time.
Although I'm out of the business, my bender is still being manufactured and
marketed by Lewis Polk. It is so much nicer to be able to take periodic
'commission' checks to the bank and not have to go through all the hassle of
machining, packaging, shipping, getting rubber checks from customers, etc.
Keep your steam up!
Mr. Lunkenheimer's associate.
