Portland is only two hours drive for me. I drive up there often to visit relatives and for work. The layout looks like it is smooth running. I love the creative "Oily" guided tour!
I spent a few hours working on my layout today. Weeding and reconnecting the section of track that winter always rips apart were the highlights. The mainline now runs. Next I will remove the landslide from the tunnel entrance and prune vinca back from the mill landing. The pine tree took two years to raise the track four inches on the trestle grade. The grade should be 1%, but now features a steeper section. Soon I will have to again dig under each bent and then add a hundred pounds of stone to the trestle to force it back into designed 1% grade. The Aster Alisan Shay needs a little attention before it can run as well. Soon I will host train club meetings to start off the spring, summer, fall operation, eating, and BS sessions. ~ Gary, scudding over Terror Trestle http://community.webshots.com/user/raltzenthor http://www.angelfire.com/or/trainguy/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmP_h6qSExE#EgPhodbzwWU -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Vickie-Marie Ward Sent: Tuesday, March 20, 2007 6:14 PM To: Small-scale live steam discussions Subject: Re: [SSLiveSteam] possible Portland steam location Larry Staver is actually interested in a 3 day event similar to Sacramento's, but I have suggested that he do a standard Saturday steam-up soon as a warm-up and to get to know us!
