experience and great ideas and solutions. Let's reuse them.

I agree wholeheartedly with learning what we can from irc, but there is a footnote: IRC hasn't resolved some of the issues (netsplits etc), and I'm keen that we don't duplicate IRC so closely that we end up with the same problems they have.
