The XMPP Extensions Editor has received a proposal for a new XEP.
Title: Server IP Check

The XMPP Council will decide at its next meeting whether to accept
this proposal as an official XEP.
I rather the client simply ask for the IP address that the server
associates with the clients. A client may simply not wish to
disclose what it's actual IP address to the server.
The IP address returned is simply that which the server associates
with the client.
Which might be an IPv6 address when the client used IPv4, or vice
versa. An illustration showing an IPv6 address should also be
included.
If the server's behind a NAT itself, that IP address might not be
terribly useful to the client. So this should be discussed in the
specification.
Also, the Security Considerations should note that it might not be
appropriate for the server to disclose the IP address it associates
with the client to the client (such as when the server is behind a
NAT).
