Just a question:
If such information (i.e. a contact vCard in XML format) is stored
within the roster, this mean that all this information would be
retrieved when the usert connects to the server and asks fot its
rosters.
Considering that vCard can store heavy data as photo(s), logo(s),
sound(s) or cryptographic keys, wouldn't it be a bad desing as it
involves high bandwidth consumption?

Roster versioning would help enormously with that.
