FWIW, while it's no longer as big a problem I think it's still a very
relevant one. One of the main reasons people have for choosing
WhatsApp over normal, secure, federated XMPP is that it automagically
gives them a way to IM their friends.
For that very reason I have actually thought about pitching adoption
of ENUM for XMPP a bit (from a technical/standards point of view we
have all we need), but for now that's just a thought in my head.
