Wow, finally some more „exotic” M2M use cases. Sounds interesting your project! In terms of message load I could think tigase might be also be worth a look – it has downsides on configurability and extensibility from what I’ve heard though.
I see that certain pattern, and maybe it would be good to have a Matrix of the brokers with some infos like scalability in terms of user count , scalability in terms of message load on the other column, clustering, ease of configuration, code base maturity, etc. Or maybe just extend the present on xmpp.org in terms of ‘”primary design goals”. Would you think that to be senseful or just me asking for a flamewar? Best regards, Johannes Von: Standards [mailto:[email protected]] Im Auftrag von Sven-Erik Tiberg Gesendet: Mittwoch, 24. Lots of states to share at rel. high update. Some units/nodes needs to be behind “thick” firewalls as physical motion simulators with operator and a intruder could harm the operator / machinery. Trying to use open source applications as much as possible to make it easier to interface with most simulation and supers vision programs. What broker should we prefer, currently testing ejabberd and openfire. /Sven-Erik From: Standards [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dave Cridland Sent: den 23 september 2014 15:35 To: XMPP Standards Subject: Re: [Standards] Which server do you prefer mostly ? "Better" is highly subjective, but is probably one of ejabberd, M-Link, MongooseIM, Openfire, or Prosody. Which depends very much on your goals here - for example, if your requirements include clustering, this would remove Prosody, if your requirements include "high scalability from the outset" then that removes Openfire, and "free" would remove M-Link. On the other hand, "very easy to configure" would include M-Link, Openfire, and (probably) Prosody. The chances are very strong, though, that any of them will work fine initially, and it's relatively simple to switch between them as well - I've changed server twice in the past 18 months, and I'm involved in projects switching entire networks from one to another.
