While usage of this command is certainly restricted to certain
"bubbles", those bubbles are wider than just the XMPP community. "/me"
is implemented and used in various commercial platforms such as Slack
and Discord.

I would prefer replacing it with something else. The reason is, even
if user A doesn't use it themselves, we want to ensure it is rendered
correctly if user B sends it to them. We may be able to achieve
something equivalent or better using a new "action" element and/or the
new fallback stuff, but that's not yet widely implemented.

So I'm not against removal of this XEP in the long term, but we would
need a path towards replacing it with something else. Just allowing
clients to not implement it at all will cause a poor UX for recipients
of these messages.
