For normal single user stuff I don't think IDE has a performance
disadvantage vs SCSI. In a server or other really high system load
application, SCSI is a clear winner,  but if you up the anty once again to
PCI controller cards ATA100 and SCSI are both ripping fast. Cost and
compatibility are the primary issues with a Starmax. Frankly right now I
think it is cheaper to add a PCI ATA100 card than it is to buy SCSI hard
drives or CDRW vs IDE.

This mac cost more stuff really gripes me, for a PC I can buy a ATA66 PCI
card shipped for $10, and the mac cards are still like $75, grrrrrr.
