If you get the SCSI you can leave your ATAPI bus free for another hard drive. There was a problem with StarMax SCSI that Motorola fixed with a free upgrade kit. Make sure it's installed. The SCSI cable is a long wide cable with several plugs. If both ends are plugged into little boards, you have the upgrade. If one end is plugged directly into the motherboard and the other end is attached directly to the external SCSI plug you DON'T have the upgrade. Without the upgrade, SCSI operations hang at random. My CD-ROM worked fine without the upgrade, but Zip use was a misery. Lou
