Since it came to me without a hard drive or CDROM I figured I would have this problem. I just threw whatever CDROM drive I had in there, figuring if it booted from my OS8 CD it would do for the rest. (the drive was from a junked PC whose maker had the initials "P.B.") With this non-rommed drive, if I leave a CD-any CD-in the drive it sees the CDROM fine; if no CD is in the drive on bootup, it doesn't recognize the drive. No big deal...
-And I DID put in the OS8.1 patch after upgrading to 8.1!! Now all I have to do is food chain down my Iomega Zip CD650 CDRW and talk it into working with a Mac... Thanks for the advice! DB >Just offering the obligatory note that the machine may not be able to boot from that CD-ROM drive. It might be wise to try booting from a system CD to test it. -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
