Try this site, otherworld computing, for the vram, but if you're getting the
video card dont bother with it.
OWC VRAM for starmax: http://eshop.macsales.com $7 for 2 mb, $16 for 4
mb - (techworks) It may be cheaper now.
I have a Voodoo 3 card in mine. Ebay is probably the best place to find
'em. Some have windows rom, some mac rom. A windows one can have the rom
"flashed " to make it mac, which I did. The mac ones seem to sell for a
little more but save you the trouble and uncertainty of being able to get it
to work. You can get the mac drivers and flashing software from
www.mac3dfx.com
I concur with Scott who said:

Probably the only advantage of a better card like a voodoo 5 in the starmax
is you could move it to a better mac someday that could really use it.

Yeah, I run the Sims on mine. Before I got the Voodoo3 , the "movie" at the
beginning ran very choppy, even though I had the full vram, and it would
sometimes hang up for a few secs. Same with Warcraft II. Both run smooth
now. Apparently I need to put a Voodoo 4 or 5 card in my other Mac, a beige
desktop with 433 mhz G3 processor(now) to be able to run the new Warcraft
III. the Starmax doesnt have enough speed even with the 233 G3 card I have
in it, and the 160 mb Ram is too low for it as well.

I have read that the Radeon 5000 Mac card needs OS 9.2 but I havent gotten
confirmation of that. Anyone know?
