JC-- You will need to copy the extension "Apple CD-ROM 5.3.1" from your OS 7.6 CD to the extensions folder of the OS 8.x system. Remove any newer copy of Apple CD-ROM before putting this one in the folder. If you need a copy, let me know privately, and I'll email you one. Separately, I would recommend that you reformat to HFS+ & partition your HD into several different ones ones before installing OS9.1 (use the Drive Set-Up on the Install OS 9.1 CD). I have partitions titled System 9.1, Applications, Scratch Disk, Data Files, Back-Up System, etc. Boot from the Install OS 9.1 CD and do the installation from it. Afterwards, reboot and zap the pram (hold down continuously the command, option, P & R keys until you hear 5 bongs), and if the new system doesn't boot-up correctly then reboot & depress the option & command keys down to prompt a desktop rebuilt. _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/_/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ Ed Stewart, Colorado Rocky Mountains <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Personal website at: <http://www.skymtn.com/> Updated 8/27/02 -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:starmax@;mail.maclaunch.com> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:starmax-off@;mail.maclaunch.com> For digest mode, email: <mailto:starmax-digest@;mail.maclaunch.com> Subscription questions: <mailto:listmom@;lowendmac.com> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> --------------------------------------------------------------- >The Think Different Store http://www.ThinkDifferentStore.com ---------------------------------------------------------------
