Hey all, I am new to this list. I hope someone can help me out. I am trying to upgrade the OS on my newly aquired Starmax 4000 with a 200mhz processor, Newer Technology G3-L2 400mhz upgrade, 64 mb RAM and a new 40gb hard drive. It currently has 7.6 (?) on it but I am going to try to put 9.1 on it soon.
My problem seems to center around the cd drive after I upgrade to 8.0 or 8.1. Here are the bugs I have run into after upgrading: 1) I have to put in a cd twice before it is recognized by the computer. 2) I can't copy anything from a cd to the hard drive without freezing up- even small files. The cd drive is a Hitachi 7390 8x which I assume is stock. I went to the Hitachi site and only found DOS drivers for it. I have the same problems with the processor upgrade software on and off. Anyone have a clue what is going on? Please help. Thanks. PS I am also looking for a 64mb dimm.
