I'd like to add something to the post I made for Mr.
Rosbooks. When I changed the PRAM battery in my
StarMax, about 4 years after I bought it, I did so
after experiencing intermittent clock problems for a
few weeks. The battery I removed measured 3.35 volts,
even though it was still able to maintain all the
other necessary StarMax functions. I used to turn off
my computer with the power button and then unplug it
from the wall, after having a VCR destroyed by a
lightening strike to my TV antenna.

I have been told that Radio Shack sells a plastic
holder for 4 AA batteries which be easily converted
into a 3 battery holder to replace the PRAM battery.
It is necessary though to save the connector from the
original PRAM battery so the new holder will connect
to the board easily.
