I have a Starmax 4000/200 running OS 9.1. With a SCSI CD-ROM, I now have two large IDE hard drives in it, so it earns its keep as a file and backup server on my small home network. It sits in the basement and runs headless with Timbuktu.
So, while I have moved onto to faster and more current Powermacs ... my trusty (and extremely stable) Starmax still serves a vital function ... I couldn't imagine getting rid of it.
Anyway, the JoeCards sell okay ... try the LEM swap list first (no transaction fees involved), then try eBay if you don't sell it within a couple of weeks.
Good luck,
L

Now I am wondering what to do with my StarMax 4200 DT, 80 MB, 6.8 GB and 260 MHz G3 Joe upgrade card. Can I still get some money for this machine ? Is there a market for this machine or the [EMAIL PROTECTED] joeCard by itself ?
I believe these are still selling well on eBay.
I wouldn't mind using it as a Linux box but I don't think Linux will recognize the joeCard. Also, the only current Linux for PPC does not seem to support these older machines ? I have an older version of LinuxPPC that I bought a couple years ago.
Try NetBSD, I believe it supports add-on cards. Here is a link for you:

I tried installing MacOS 9.2 but got a message that it was not supported on my StarMax.
What is the latest MacOS that will install without major hacks ?
OS 9.1 works great for me.
Does anyone have Linux running with a G3 upgrade card in a StarMax ?
I had a real tough time getting any Linux to work well on my SM.
