This is not a Starmax specific problem. I have this
also on several G3 Apple machines. Basically, you
can't expect a single processor to do 3 or 4 CPU
intensive things simultaneously without some hiccups.
I'm amazed at how much the old SM can do. My SM
5000/275 with the original Power PC 603ev running
system 7.6.1 will download from the internet in the
background while I simultaneously retrieve and read
email or compose and format documents in Word.
