I do not have any specifics to add. I have a PBG4Ti400 which I network to
my SM w/G3 upgrade. I have a crossover cable but I understand that the
Powerbook can sense and adapt to a regular cable as a crossover. I now have
it networked through a wireless router so I don't remember the exact
settings for cable but it was pretty easy. I would recommend OS 9.1 and an
upgrade card, it really transforms the SM into a fully functional computer
and they are pretty cheap. I have ours hooked up to DSL and it is as good
as any computer for browsing. It would be nice to run OSX but 9 works well.
I even keep OS 7.6.1 on one partition to run VPV/Windoze95 when I need it.
The SM w/G3 really screams on OS 7.6.1. But for networking and more modern
programs OS 9.1 is a good goal. This is am amazing computer that refuses to
die. It can still do most of what I want from any computer. My plan is to
keep it until there are cheap second generation refurb G5s. Nothing lasts
forever but in the computer world this comes very close.
