Oops! The PCI bridge was not properly seated. We now have the USB
ports back and working. However, still no ethernet. The ethernet card
did show up in the network section of the profiler. When I selected
appleshare in the chooser, it did seem to see the powerbook, but when I
selected powerbook and tried to log in, I got the message "the
connection has suddenly terminated." There is an account for the
starmax on the powerbook. I have gone over and over every step in the
instructions for both computers for setting up the network. It is
supposed to be a simple thing. The powerbook has never seen the
starmax. The network status for ethernet on the powerbook has always
been yellow (active but not connected) when the crossover cable is
plugged in. Ethernet does not show up as having any status when the
cable is not connected.

The person who sent the card and driver is sending another card to try.
In the meantime, we are bringing the cable to another location to test
it.

Thanks for all your comments.
