I have tried to search through all of Apple's and QT's Help files to find my problem to no avail. Also, as near as I can find out, Apple does not offer a question board such as you folks.

Actually, they do. See: http://discussions.info.apple.com/quicktime/

I am running MacOS 10.2.8, with QT Pro, Netscape 7.1. I can download a movie trailer from the Internet, including the video and audio to a folder on my HD. To use the QT Pro capabilities I then need to "Export" the file to another folder on my HD. Doing this causes me to lose the audio file. What am I doing wrong???

When you do the export, check the "options" button. With QT you may export the video or the audio, or both. More than likely you QT setting is to video only.
