Sounds good!

I dont have an install CD. Am in process of finding out whether my friend lost
the thing or simply forgot to pass it on to me. Sounds good, though!

:-} No, something less bloated is fine, m'dear. If I need something
full-featured, I'll use Open Office Write on my Linux PC (this one - havent
got the Mac hitched up to the internet yet). I also have an aversion to
using MS software due to their extremely poor track record when it comes to
security.

Yes, please do pass on the Appleworks contact details, I'd like to join.

I'm afraid that that is one piece of software I refuse to use!

The Mac is going to be used for two main things - firstly, to give me some
experience of another non-Windows environment (I also hope to create a small
Lan soon with one or two Windows boxes, one Linux box snf the Mac on it), in
order to help me learn stuff useful for getting me back into IT work, and
secondly to provide a computer mostly for entertainment in the guest room.
It'll also provide a useful backup to my Linux box for email use, should my
Linux box fail (I;d really rather not connect anything running Windows to the
Internet unless I really HAVE to! The Windows box, incidentally, is primarily
a games machine. Windows isnt worth bothering with for serious work, IMHO).
