Actually swapping in an Apple SCSI CD-ROM was one of the better
upgrades I did to my StarMax. In addition to allowing me to mount a
second IDE HD, the standard Apple CD driver now worked and any retail
OS 8.1-9.1 CD is 'C' key bootable.
Hadn't thought of that angle (freeing up the Atapi connector), and
since I have a couple of old Macs around, why not scavange a CD-ROM
drive from one of them. Great, I didn't know the Apple drive would
work in the StarMax but you're not the first to tell me this so here
goes! Thanks much!

As a bonus, if you get a SCSI CD-ROM drive, it will free up the Atapi
connector on your motherboard so you can put in a second IDE hard drive.

Hi.
Is it possible to simply add an Apple brand CD-ROM drive to a Starmax
3000 to get it to boot to a Mac OS CD?
Thanks
