You didn't say what sort of eyepiece(s) you're using. Last time I looked at an LX-10, the stock eyepiece wasn't anything to get excited about. I've got an 8" SCT as well, 15 miles outside of Boston and can get some decent views. If the eyepiece is standard, you might look at upgrading.
