I use Starry Night Pro with Bob Denny's ACP to control my Meade ETX-125.
Re: your telescope question, I would suggest the same as many others on this
list, that you attend a star party or two, and look through some "low-end"
telescopes so you can make an informed decision regarding price vs
performance.
