How about

This way, we could request:
http://identi.ca/tobyink/all/peopletag/statusnet?filter=statusnet
to indicate Toby's original suggestion (that is, show me people I
subscribe to who I have NOT peopletagged with "statusnet"), but we
could also have:
http://identi.ca/tobyink/all/peopletag/statusnet?filter=css
to indicate that we'd like to see everyone tobyink is subscribed to
who he has peopletagged with 'statusnet' and explicitly not with 'css'.
Not sure how much more work this would be to implement, I'm just
throwing out the suggestion.
