Hi all: I am new here. I have found two bugs related with the new Map feature and after asking in the IRC, I registered myself (as "txopi") on Trac and tryed to create a new ticket. But i have no permissions to create new tickets ("TICKET_CREATE TICKET_CREATE privileges are required to perform this operation"), so finally I decided to subscribe to this mailing list.
I don't want to publish to the world my location every time i send a post to identi.ca. I think that with the Location field in my profile is enough. I understand that there will be people that want to say where they are all the time, but it is not my case. I have read this page in the wiki to disable this feature, but it haven't helpt me: http://status.net/wiki/Location_fuzzing BUG 1: FF 3.0 over Ubuntu In my Ubuntu laptop I run Firefox 3.0.16 and I don't have the option explained in the wiki (Page info -> Permissions -> Share my location). As I don't have that option, I don't know how to avoid publishing my location each time I want to post something. I thought to use TOR but that way I don't solve nothing :-( BUG 2: FF 3.5 over Windows Today I have tryed to send a post to identi.ca with another computer (Firefox 3.5.6 over Windows XP) and it happens the same, my location is made public without my consent. I have checked that "Share my location" (at Page info -> Permissions) is blocked, but anyway my location is showed. Why? I have no idea. I have blocked all the permissions but the cookies (to allow login on identi.ca) but when I send the post in the page, my location is published anyway. So I delete it again. Proposal: I don't know if you will like to receibe a proposal from someone that is not helping in the development of StatusNet, but anyway here it is: I think that the automatic location feature should be controled in the server's user configuration, not with the particular page permissions (each user can use different machines and users and browsers to send posts and it isn't logical to control all the preferences with the server's configuration but one, the most personal info). Or at least, I think that in the server's user configuration should be one option like this: Automatic location detection: o No (never) o Yes (depends on the browser's configuration) By default, I think that the location shouldn't be published, following the same criteria to make optional the personal information fields Full name, Location, Biography, etc. If you need me to give more information about software used when detecting the bugs, or you want to try something if it can help you to replicate the bugs or try solutions, or whatever, just tell me! Meantime I hope you understand that I don't want to send posts (dents?) to identi.ca.
