While I have a lot more than 2-3 years experience in this area, I think
it took me about an hour to set up StatusNet - and most of that time was
wrangling MySQL, a database I'm not especially familiar with.

That said, I'm not using very many plugins for my instance - just the
Linkback and Geonames ones. Certainly I'd say, for a basic installation,
it's already pretty easy. Not quite Wordpress level of ease, but
comparable with, say, MediaWiki.
