Hi list,

I just started playing with status.net and have a question about ldap integration.
I downloaded the 0.9.0rc2 version because I needed the ldap plugin.

My testsystem is authenticating just fine against our ldap server.
Unfortunately, my userobjects don't have an ldap attribute without punctuation, like the nickname requires.

From the registration screen:
Nickname: 1-64 lowercase letters or numbers, no punctuation or spaces. Required.

All values in possible candidate fields have dots (.) or spaces or whatever in them. Users can login ok, and post tweets, but their profile page can't be viewed when their nickname is punctuated.
All links to a userprofile just point to the system's homepage.

I have some testaccounts setup with a nickname without punctuation, and then everyhting works fine. Unfortunately, I can't easily add a new ldap attribute for all my users and populate it with a valid value.

I was wondering if there is a reason why punctuation isn't allowed in the nickname. And if there isn't, could punctuated nicknames easily be allowed in status.net ?

Thank you in advance,
Kind regards,
