I have been building Stellarium regulaly for months in Windows XP and Win 7 on
an array of lap tops and PC's. Latest build 5723. The opening splash screen
does not display or flashes for a fraction of a second. This first occured
around build 5500. The rest of the program appears to be normal.
Building in Linux 12.04 on the same computers in either full or virtual does
not have this problem. The splash screen displays normally.
