Though I didn't see it  from the start: I originally tested if it happened
on uxterm (which it did) - but I launched uxterm from an xfce terminal, and
it seems the error is propagated. If I use the "Launch" thingie in XFCE and
start uxterm or xterm, the problem does not happen. But if I  launch them
from an xfce terminal, it happens on both.

So, should I still try the fix or dig further into the console problem
(might be over my head...)?
I've just about read up on how to submit patches (to the git list,
correct?) and I'm trying to figure out how to run the tests, so no real
work done yet.
