What type of stone i.e hardness do you use?
I have heard about lead being beaten into stone
lettering by drilling a few small 3mm holes into the
sides/bottom of your carvings at angles to each other
when the soft metal is gently beaten in, it locks itself
into the small holes. maybe the lead could be gold
plated/paited or leafed after polishing
