Sandblasting equipment is usually quite costly.
There are, however, cheaper ways around it.
I have seen a portable sandblaster once working with
the airbrush principle. At the time I have seen it it
was relatively new on the market and still cost
(including compressor) something like � 600.
They are probably cheaper now and possibly available
second hand.
DIY car maintenance shops occasionally sell small kits
which you have to connect to a compressor. They are
made for larger areas mainly but could, theoretically,
do the trick. I have recently seen one advertised by
the Sealy group in Suffolk for about � 25.
If you have loads of spare room to work in and a
pickup or something it could be worth looking at
bankruptcy auctions. It is a bit sad, living in Stoke
on Trent where companies have to declare bankruptcy
constantly, but their tools go so cheap, it is
unbelievable. I have seen such a sale last year, in
which the whole sandblasting cabin and equipment went
for fifty pounds.
